Review – Wounded Survivor by Jheanell Reynolds

I read this book in one sitting. It’s short at 52 pages, but a real story of grit and determination to survive appalling odds. The author had suffered hideous abuse in the past, but has risen above it and refused to be a victim. Even though her life remains challenging, what shines through is a real desire to use her story to help others. Told in a relatively unemotional style which heightens the impact of of her words, the message she wants to give the reader is absolutely clear. It IS possible to move on from terrible events in ones’ life. Her faith is resolute and even if I don’t share her beliefs, I totally respect the strength and comfort she has gained from it. A beautiful, powerful and inspiring read.

BLURB

Wounded Survivor is a highly personal memoir about surviving sexual abuse, dealing with the loss of loved ones, and living through mental and physical illnesses. By the time readers finish this book, they will have gained deep insight into the author’s life and her journey to becoming the strong woman she is today. Her greatest desire is to help other women and girls by showing her support as someone who has survived these experiences and thrived, and to encourage them to speak out about sexual abuse.
