Book Review – Lost and Found (The Wiccan Haus) by Elizabeth Silver

The Wiccan Haus is a collaboration of various authors, coming together to write stories within the same world, but that is as much as I know about the series. Lost and Found has characters that appear in other books by other authors, and alludes to past events, but that doesn’t matter, because this is a lovely romance which can be read on its own.

As the blurb says, Willow is wanting some R and R at her cousin’s spa island, whilst she figures out why her skills seem to have deserted her. On the same ferry is Alex and his daughter, Grace. There’s an instant connection but Willow is wary of getting close to anyone, as they all seem to die. Alex is more worried about his sickly daughter than having a holiday romance, but he cannot keep away from Willow.

It’s a relatively quick read, at 105 pages, but packed full of the joys of a true romance novel. There’s insta-love, a cute kid, “helpful” cousins and luscious sex, together with peril, doubt about whether the new relationship is doomed and… that’s as much as I’m prepared to stay without a massive spoiler. Alex and Willow are appealing characters who are easy to care about from the get go, and if insta-love is your thing, you won’t be disappointed. If it isn’t your thing, this book probably isn’t for you.

I also loved the secondary characters; mischievous Myron, Alex’s ex, Cherise, and slinky Sarka. And I would love to read Cemil’s story. His gift to Grace, Alex’s daughter, was truly touching.

This author is new to me, but based on this book I would definitely read more of her work. She handles the breathless lovers with ease and gives them some beautifully described sexy times. The kid is cute as a button without being nauseating, and her mystery illness seems to be the result of being starved of magic in the human world.

This story had all the feels. A little bit of magic, engaging personalities and a beautiful love story. In the Wiccan Haus world, unbelievable things happen, so two people falling in love on first sight is not the strangest thing. Ultimately, this book is about the importance of family, of sticking together and standing up for each other, and we could all do with a lot more of that. A sparkle of magic helps too.
